03/03Platform armoring
Protection where every gram is charged to flight performance. Ultra-light UHMWPE panels designed zone by zone for helicopter seats, cockpit and fuselage.
01 — Overview
On an aircraft, every added kilo comes out of payload, range or maneuverability. That is why aircraft armoring concentrates protection where it is needed most instead of spreading it across the whole airframe. For helicopters flying low, the threat often comes from below, as small-arms fire, which puts crew seats and the lower fuselage first. KG’s answer is an ultra-light UHMWPE build: fibers with high strength for their weight protect by spreading energy over a wide area.
Panels are designed by zone. In the seats, seat-pan and back panels protect pilots and crew; the cockpit gets side panels and the fuselage lower-section protection. This approach shapes each panel to the threat and the mounting surface of its zone, and installation is planned so as not to compromise the airframe or maintenance access. The protection level is set per project with reference to STANAG 4569 Level 2–4; the lightweight AEROARMOR A-2 panel for aircraft critical systems is defined at level 2.
A composite build for weight-critical missions.
Seat-pan and back panels.
Side-panel and lower-section protection.
Level 2–4, set per project; AEROARMOR A-2 at level 2.
For helicopters and other air platforms, protecting crew seats, the cockpit and the lower fuselage.
