01 — Overview
A closer look
A ballistic helmet protects the head, but the face is often left exposed. A ballistic visor closes that gap: a transparent ballistic shield mounted to the front of the helmet. It is made of polycarbonate, a ductile material that flexes and absorbs energy on impact rather than shattering like brittle glass. The visor is rated NIJ II against the 9 mm threat. The catalog classification also refers to the scale of VPAM, the German association of test centers; level details are in the product data sheet.
The 180° field of view lets the user scan a wide arc without turning the head, which is vital in a crowd or at a building entrance. The visor works as one with the helmet: together, helmet and shield bring head and face into a single protected zone. Where close-range handgun fire is expected, plan the visor with the helmet so the face is not left exposed. Keep the polycarbonate free of scratches and never clean it with abrasives; clear vision is part of the protection.
