Anti-Stab Vest

Edged and spiked weapons work differently from bullets. A bullet strikes at high velocity and its energy can be spread along the fibers; a knife moves slowly but cuts through fibers with a narrow edge, while spikes and pointed tools try to push the fibers apart and slip between them. That is why a purely ballistic soft panel may not give enough protection against a knife or spike attack. An anti-stab vest combines the ballistic layer with extra cut- and puncture-resistant layers, meeting all three threats in one pack.

In a prison block, on a correctional detail or in a crowded street, the threat often comes at close range and without warning. In these roles the vest is worn for the whole shift, so flexibility and body fit matter as much as protection itself. A vest that is uncomfortable gets taken off, and a vest that is taken off protects no one. Weight and ventilation therefore belong on the selection checklist too.
