EOD Bomb Disposal Suit

A blast injures in four ways: the pressure wave, high-velocity fragments, heat, and the body being thrown against hard surfaces. A bomb-disposal suit is designed to cover the whole body against these threats during the minutes a technician works at a suspect device. The set comprises a helmet, a visor for the face, a jacket for the torso, and arm and leg armor. Each piece covers its own zone, but all are designed as one system. Its layers work together to catch fragments and spread energy over a wide area.

Engineering an EOD suit is a balancing act. More protection means more weight and heat load, yet the technician must walk carefully, bend and do delicate hand work inside the suit. That is why mobility, vision and heat management matter as much as protection. The suit works as one with the technician’s training and procedures; no suit replaces stand-off distance.
